Privacy Policy
Effective date: 2026-07-21 · Last updated: 2026-07-21
This Privacy Policy explains how Versepond (a sole proprietorship registered in Kenya, “Versepond”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses, shares, and protects personal data when you use the Versepond website and our products (Versepond Hymnals, and future Versepond lines), together the “Services”. We are the data controller for your Versepond account, which is shared across all Versepond products.
1. Who we are
Versepond, P.O. Box 22709-00100, Nairobi, the Republic of Kenya. Privacy contact: mutzintl@gmail.com · +254 118 701280. Data protection contact: mutzintl@gmail.com · +254 118 701280.
2. The data we collect
- Account data — when you create or sign in to your Versepond account: your email address, and (if you use Google sign-in) the basic profile Google returns (name, email, account identifier). We assign you a stable internal user ID.
- Subscription & entitlement data — what you are entitled to, the originating store or payment rail, and subscription status. We store entitlements keyed to your account.
- Payment data — payments are processed by Google Play billing. We do not receive or store your payment card details; we receive confirmation of payment and the resulting entitlement.
- Usage & device data — basic, privacy-respecting information about how the Services are used (e.g. app version, general device type, crash diagnostics). Where we adopt analytics we aim to use cookieless analytics (see our Cookie Notice).
- Advertising data — our apps may show ads (currently via Google AdMob using test configurations pre-production). Ad SDKs may process device identifiers per their own policies.
- Content you create — e.g. favorites, playlists, or backups you choose to store.
- Support communications — what you send us when you contact support.
3. How we use it
To provide and secure your account; deliver and sync your entitlements across devices and the web; process subscriptions; operate, maintain, and improve the Services; provide support; comply with legal obligations; and (where applicable) show ads.
4. Legal bases
Where the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019 and/or GDPR-style laws apply, we rely on: performance of a contract (providing your account and subscriptions), legitimate interests (securing and improving the Services), consent (where required, e.g. certain analytics/ads), and legal obligation.
5. How we share data
- Service providers / processors: Google Firebase (authentication, database, hosting, functions), Google Play (billing), and Google AdMob (advertising) — each processing data on our behalf or per their own policies.
- Across Versepond products: your identity and entitlement travel with your one account; product content/data stays separated per product line.
- Legal / safety: where required by law or to protect rights and safety.
- We do not sell your personal data.
6. International transfers
Some processors (e.g. Google) may process data outside the Republic of Kenya. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.
7. Retention
We keep account and entitlement data for as long as your account is active, and as needed for legal, accounting, or dispute-resolution purposes. You can delete your account at any time (see §9).
8. Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you may access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing of your data, withdraw consent, and request portability. Contact mutzintl@gmail.com. You may also lodge a complaint with the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner (Kenya) or your local authority.
9. Account deletion & data export
You can request deletion of your Versepond account and associated data, and a copy of your data, from your account page or by contacting mutzintl@gmail.com. See the Account Deletion & Your Data page (also at versepond.com/delete-account) for what is deleted and timelines.
10. Children
The Services are not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact mutzintl@gmail.com.
11. Security
We use industry-standard measures (including Google Cloud/Firebase security) to protect your data. No method is perfectly secure, but we work to safeguard it.
12. Changes
We may update this Policy; the “Last updated” date will change and, for material changes, we will provide notice. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Policy.
